Trade Helper (Fiberglass)

 

Basic Functions:

Assist in the repair of damaged fiberglass/composite surfaces, such as antennas and  radomes.

Major Duties:

  • Assist journeyman tradesman in a variety of composite/fiberglass assignments
  • Identifies weak or delaminated areas requiring repair
  • Cuts away damaged areas using the appropriate tools and proper techniques
  • Assist technician with restoring fiberglass in accordance with antenna/radome specifications and military requirements
  • Mixes and applies resins, hardeners and cloth in layers to match original configuration
  • Assist technician with cutting out and restoring copper screen and core materials as required
  • Keeps tradesman supplied with tools, materials, and equipment
  • Keep tools, equipment, shop and work sites in good clean orderly condition
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience:

Two years of experience required including trade or vocational schooling and some fiberglass/composite experience desired

Job Title: Engineering Tech (Welder)

Job Description:

Compliance Corporation is accepting resumes through Thursday, May 3, 2018 for the following position located in St. Inigoes, MD:

Basic Function:

  • Lays out, welds, fabricates, assembles, and installs prototype parts and equipment made of various types of metals and alloys.  Uses a variety of hand tools, power machines, torches, and welding equipment for processes as bending, forming, fitting, and welding. Works with numerous different stock shapes and forms ranging from light gauges to heavy plate thickness.

Major Duties:

  • Lays out work from blueprints, specifications, or verbal instructions given by supervisor.
  • Assists senior Welders during the fabrication of prototype parts and equipment for ship and shore installations.
  • Independently plans, constructs, and assembles prototype parts and equipment.
  • Welds structural assembles and foundations for shipboard and shore installations.
  • Welds parts and assemblies that are to be machined to exact tolerances where overall penetration must be uniform.
  • Operates gas cutting hand torch or portable electric arc machines.
  • Operates Plasma Cutter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:

  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of and be proficient in the use of tungsten inert gas (TIG), metal inert gas (MIG), and shielded metal arc (SMA) welding processes.

Skill:

  • Must be proficient with plasma arc and oxygen/acetylene cutting equipment.  Must be capable of welding a wide variety and thickness of metal, e.g.: steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc. Must be skilled in blocking and jigging methods to prevent distortion of products during the welding process.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the welding trade required with specific experience with MIG and TIG welding of aluminum and stainless steel, and with Plasma cutters and oxygen/acetylene torches. Must be AWS certified in structural and sheet metal multiple position applications. Certification in MIG is a plus.  Experience welding a variety of aluminum materials desired

 Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Completion of a technical school or 24 semester hours of course studies from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be certified for Coast Guard, ABS or Navy requirements for welding or IAW with AWSD17-1.

 

Extraordinary Physical/Mental Requirement:

  • Includes bending, stooping, standing and working in cramped and awkward positions, and carrying heavy material and equipment up to 35 lbs. Will lift weights up to 75 pounds, with an average weight of 50 pounds.  Predominate hazards exist in operating machinery and equipment and working with chemical cleaners and coatings.  Works in a high noise level area.  Works in a machine shop environment.

Job Title: Machinist/ Eng Tech/ CNC Operator

Job Description: A professional machinist who is responsible for setup and operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts for: military shipboard, ground, or aircraft systems. Will work in a 50-man, highly-capable & modern shop, with integrated metal/plastic fabricating capabilities. Candidate will setup/program and perform machining operations to produce prototype or small production batches of parts. 1. Candidate will be capable of competent operation of legacy machine tools for production of precision parts; including lathes, milling machines, grinders and saws. 2. Candidates will be highly capable in use of CNC machines, including machining centers, lathes, and cutting machines. 3. Will review CAD file or printed drawings and specifications, and interface with design engineers, drafters, shop foreman, or technicians to plan each task assignment. 4. Will plan sequences of operations and make necessary calculations or do needed CAD file transfer or programming for setup of CNC machines. 5. Will be familiar with different materials (steel, aluminum, brass, etc.) and the impact to planning and machine programming. 6. Will inspect parts as required using appropriate techniques and types of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc) to assure adhering to the precision tolerances of specifications. 7. Other duties as assigned.
